The Albert Lea boys’ tennis team wrapped up postseason play Tuesday at the individual sections tournament in Owatonna. The rain forced players indoors.
Sophomore captain Kuol Dual had a great day, playing one of the toughest kids in the section tournament, a singles player from Mayo. Dual was able to take two games off of his opponent and played strategically and thoughtfully.
Junior captain Jacob Luoma also played aggressively.
It was senior captain Gunnar Hardison’s last match, and he and his doubles partner, Chase Schmidt, did their best to challenge a strong Owatonna doubles team.
“We had a terrific season and are proud of the growth that we made,” coach Therese Netzer said. “We were able to get some wins this season, and we are excited to keep building off of this momentum next season.”
Boys entering ninth through 12th grade who love pickle ball, ping pong and badminton are encouraged to check out the sport of tennis this summer. The boys’ tennis team will be having team hit arounds Wednesday nights from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the high school courts.
Coaches will be on hand to teach and help. Rackets will also be available for participants.
