The Waldorf D1 hockey team entertained No. 1 and undefeated Jamestown for a weekend series in Albert Lea. Jamestown would gain a sweep over the Warriors.
Jamestown earned a 4-1 win Friday night. The Jimmies scored two goals in the first and second periods to take a 4-0 lead. Waldorf got on the scoreboard in the third period when Geoffrey Dick scored at the 6:20 mark off assists from Luke Nemeth and Dominic Toews. Vaughn Holbeche made over 40 saves in net for the Warriors.
Saturday night, Jamestown gained a 9-1 win over Waldorf. Jamestown led 1-0 going into the second period. They erupted for six goals in the second. They scored four goals within the first seven points of the frame. Three players scored two scores a piece for the Jimmies. Waldorf’s goal came in the third period on a power play goal from Evan Koivunen.
Waldorf (4-8) next plays Friday and Saturday at Minot State.
